Recess is usually for playing, but for many students, it’s just a time to manage the next pile of work. I drew us as thin stick figures to show how we feel under the weight of so many subjects—math, encyclopedias, and music. Everything is stacked on top of a piano-key foundation, suggesting that even our hobbies can feel like part of the heavy tower we have to balance every day.
